Jr. High Math Teacher — Saint Lucy School

It’s more than a job. Be part of a team that spreads the light and love of Jesus Christ throughout the Diocese of San José. We are seeking a Jr. High Math Teacher who will design and implement curriculum, instruction, and assessments aligned with designated standards and research-based practices.

You will use assessment data to implement responsive instructional interventions that support the learning of every student and model a faith-filled Catholic environment in both words and actions.

You will be expected to maintain and demonstrate strong classroom management skills consistent with the school’s philosophy and classroom rules to support a safe, positive, productive learning environment. Meeting the academic and socio-emotional needs of diverse learners is central to the role; approach students from an asset perspective and implement school-wide systems as outlined by school administration.

Participate in collaborative and professional learning sessions scheduled by the school and Department of Catholic Schools.
Collaborate with school employees and communicate and partner with parents on a regular basis.
Cover assigned staff duties, including recess supervision, and other duties as assigned by school administration.
Maintain absolute confidentiality over student and institutional information.

Act as a role model of professionalism in a Catholic environment, support the philosophy, policies, and goals of the school, and follow decisions made by the Principal and Administrators. Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of all students and adhere to all policies and procedures as outlined in the parent/student handbook and employee handbook.

You will work as part of a team and attend faculty, administrative, and other meetings as needed.

We look for strong organizational skills and attention to detail, excellent time management with the ability to meet deadlines, and strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Supervisory and leadership skills are valued, as is an ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills are essential.

Required skills and abilities include strong managerial and administrative skills; the ability to establish and maintain positive, effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, diocesan departments, and the general public; and the ability to interact with school-aged children in a warm, confident manner.

Candidates should be self-motivated, reliable, knowledgeable of first-aid procedures, able to work independently with a sense of immediacy, and be ethical and discreet team players.

Education and credentials: Bachelor’s degree is required. A valid CA teaching credential preferred. Master’s degree in an educational field, preferred. Experience in Catholic education, preferred. Language requirement: English, required.

Technical skills

Proficient at word processing, presentation, and electronic mail applications. Experience with school information systems (SIS).

Physical demands include sitting, standing, walking, reaching, lifting, repetitive motion, bending, stooping, crouching, climbing, stretching, and twisting. Ability to operate standard office equipment such as copiers, fax machines, personal computer, telephone, and alarm system. Can lift 10 lbs. in compliance with safety standards. Level of vision, hearing, speaking required.

Other requirements: Must have an understanding and acceptance for the mission of the Catholic Church. Must support the teachings and values of the Catholic Church and its mission and act as a Minister of the Faith.

Salary Range (per year based on the education and experience): $60,000.00 - $90,000.00
