Junior Project Director

Job Overview

We are seeking a detail oriented self-starter for the role of Junior Project Director to join our nonprofit team's home retrofit programs which provide energy efficiency upgrades, lead remediation, and address home health hazards at no cost to qualifying residents . In this role, you will support the planning, coordination, and execution of activities across our home assistance projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.

This position ensures that program operations, contractor coordination and participant service activities align with guidelines and the mission of the organization. As assistant to the Sr. Project Director, this role serves as the liaison between internal staff and federal, state, and local partners. This position reports directly to the Sr. Project Director.

Roles and Responsibilities

Team Management

• Support Senior Project Director in managing all aspects of retrofit/construction projects from participant intake to project completion, including scheduling, coordination, and resource allocation
• Support program goals, objectives, and priorities in alignment with HUD’s Healthy Homes initiatives and organizational strategic plans.
• Monitor construction site activities to ensure adherence to safety regulations, quality standards, and contractual obligations
• Identify potential risks related to program implementation and ensure that internal control systems are functioning effectively.

Collaborative Coordination

• Collaborate with external program partners and serve as representative for the organization in partner meetings
• Facilitate the implementation of all program components, including assessment, remediation, partner outreach, and coordination.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to facilitate smooth communication and timely delivery of materials and services
• Build partnerships with housing agencies, public health departments, community-based organizations, and contractors.
• Promote the program through community events, public meetings, and advocacy initiatives.

Administrative & Organizational Support

• Maintain accurate project documentation including contracts, work scopes, change orders, progress reports, and incident logs using internal client management tools and software
• Support cost management efforts by tracking project expenses and assisting in vendor budget management processes
• Support preparation and timely submission of quarterly and annual reports including progress narratives, and performance metrics.
• Facilitate the collection and analysis of program data to measure health and housing outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree degree in Public Health, Public Administration, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or related field preferred
• Minimum 2–3 years’ experience managing large-scale, federally funded housing or public health programs.
• Proven experience in construction site management or a related role within commercial or infrastructure projects
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively under strict deadlines
• Effective communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills

Pay: $25,000.00 - $35,000.00 per year
