About the Role

We’re representing a leading independent accountancy and business advisory firm based in Liverpool, currently seeking an experienced Audit Manager to join their growing Audit & Assurance team. With a strong reputation across the North West and as part of a rapidly expanding professional services group, the firm offers exposure to a broad client portfolio alongside excellent career progression opportunities.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced audit professional looking to step into a leadership role with responsibility for managing client relationships, overseeing audit delivery, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to the continued growth and success of the audit department.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage audit assignments from planning through to completion across a varied client portfolio
• Act as the primary point of contact for clients during audit engagements, maintaining strong professional relationships
• Supervise, review, and mentor junior team members, providing constructive feedback and technical guidance
• Prepare and manage audit budgets, monitoring progress and addressing variances where required
• Oversee billing activities and ensure engagements are delivered efficiently within agreed budgets
• Ensure compliance with UK auditing and accounting standards including FRS and IFRS
• Identify audit risks and implement effective control measures throughout engagements
• Liaise closely with Directors and senior leadership to ensure smooth project delivery and departmental alignment
• Support the development of a collaborative and positive team environment
• Complete administrative and ad hoc project work as required to support client service delivery

Ideal Candidate Profile

• ACA / ACCA qualified or equivalent professional qualification
• Proven experience operating at Audit Manager level within an accountancy practice
• Strong technical knowledge of UK auditing and accounting standards including FRS and IFRS
• Experience managing audit assignments from planning through to completion
• Strong client relationship management and communication skills
• Ability to supervise, mentor, and develop junior team members
• Commercially aware with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Experience using CCH and Inflo would be advantageous, though not essential
• Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively
