Director of Finance And Operations

Reporting directly to the Head of School and working closely with the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors, the Director of Finance and Operations is responsible for the planning and management of all financial aspects of the school, as well as all administrative operations of the school including human resources, risk management, and special projects.

Responsibilities of the DFO include

Manage the business office, accounting department and all school operations.

Manage all financial aspects including the preparation and administration of the budget and the school’s annual audit.

Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable and payroll.

Manage human resources including employment contracts.

Ensure that the school complies with government regulations, maintains appropriate employee, student and financial records, prepares financial statements and reports, and ensures the timely filing of the various reports required by Federal and Provincial authorities and required organizations.

Ensure that the building, the grounds, and the physical contents of the School are properly maintained and insured and that appropriate security and safety measures are in place.

Manage and negotiate all service contracts.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting;

CPA designation;

A minimum of five years experience in financial management and operations.

Experience in an academic or not-for-profit environment is an asset;

Solid understanding of relevant municipal legislation/policies and fundraising regulations is an asset.
