Our client, a manufacturing organization, is seeking an experienced Director of Finance and Operations to lead the transformation of its accounting and financial control function.

This is a highly visible leadership role for an accomplished finance executive who thrives in environments requiring change, accountability, and operational excellence.

The successful candidate will partner closely with senior leadership to strengthen financial processes, modernize the control environment, develop a high-performing accounting team, and deliver timely, accurate financial information that supports strategic decision-making.

Beyond technical accounting, this role requires a strong operational mindset and the ability to connect financial results with manufacturing performance, inventory management, and plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Reporting

Lead all corporate accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close activities across a complex, multi-entity organization.

Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with IFRS.

Oversee consolidations, statutory reporting, and external audit requirements.

Partner with executive leadership to provide meaningful financial insights and support strategic decision-making.

Manufacturing Finance

Provide strong financial leadership within a manufacturing environment, ensuring accounting accurately reflects operational performance.

Develop a deep understanding of manufacturing operations, inventory flows, standard costing, and inventory valuation.

Partner with operations leaders to improve costing accuracy, inventory controls, cycle count processes, and overall financial visibility across manufacturing.

Translate plant activity into meaningful financial analysis, identifying risks and opportunities affecting profitability and working capital.

Controls & Process Improvement

Design, implement, and strengthen the organization's internal control environment.

Develop standardized accounting policies, procedures, and governance across the business.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, reporting accuracy, compliance, and scalability.

Lead finance transformation initiatives, including process redesign, automation, and systems improvements.

Leadership

Build, mentor, and strengthen the accounting organization by developing talent, establishing accountability, and creating a high-performance culture.

Assess organizational capabilities and make difficult people decisions when necessary to elevate team performance.

Lead through influence, collaboration, and clear communication while navigating organizational change.

Partner cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, FP&A, and executive leadership to improve business performance.

Qualifications

CPA designation required.

10+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience, including senior leadership within a manufacturing environment.

Extensive experience with IFRS reporting.

Demonstrated success leading finance transformation and organizational change.

Experience designing and implementing internal controls, accounting policies, and financial governance frameworks.

Proven ability to build, develop, and lead high-performing finance teams through periods of change.

Experience supporting international operations and multi-entity organizations is considered a strong asset.
