About the Job

Mindwire is currently seeking a Finance Manager, Corporate Accounting to work for our valued client.

Responsibilities

• Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, Corporate Accounting, the Finance Manager leads the day-to-day corporate accounting function which includes accounts payable, payroll & benefits administration, and corporate travel authorizations.
• Coordinating tasks daily between the AP team to ensure that payments are effectively flowing through the regular cycle including receiving invoices and authorizations for payment, processing the AP in GP, and processing the payment at the banking institutions.
• Weekly reviewing of the payment files at the bank.
• Managing escalations.
• Supporting Visa reconciliations and employee expenses.
• On a biweekly basis, reviewing the payroll input files prepared by the Senior Payroll & Benefits Officer for staff including those out of headquarters, USA, and expatriates.
• Overseeing regulatory reporting including T4s, pension regulatory reports, EHT reconciliation, etc.
• Coordination with B&C team regarding allocation and coding of LOEs
• Overseeing the Travel & Events Coordinator in the daily review of travel authorization requests from HQ employees travelling abroad. Ensuring adherence to the travel policy and procedures.
• Events Management
• Handling escalations
• Coordinates the preparation of audit working papers for the consolidated external audit.
• Providing technical and analytical support to the Finance & Administration Unit.
• Supporting workflow optimization initiatives including improving & standardizing processes, better utilizing technologies, and determining optimal functional structures.
• Coordinates the signing, notarization, and attestation of corporate documents for all offices.

Requirements and Qualifications

• University degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
• Completion of a recognized Canadian accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA)
• A minimum of five (5) years accounting experience and a minimum of three (3) years in a financial management role.
• Good judgement in analyzing data and information and adapting procedures to accommodate new or unusual situations.
• Adept at identifying process improvements and workflow efficiencies while maintaining robust oversight and internal controls.
• Sound technical and professional knowledge of finance and accounting, especially Canadian reporting standards.
• Must currently be legally entitled to work in Canada. This position is based in Ottawa, Ontario.
• Fluent in English is required. French will be considered an asset.
• Experience with Dynamics GL considered an asset
• Knowledge of international banking practices considered an asset.
