What the role involves

You will be involved across commissioning planning, preparation, execution and coordination for FPSO systems. Tasks include reviewing and preparing commissioning system boundaries, commissioning procedures and other commissioning deliverables, reviewing ITR assignments, and developing both onshore & offshore commissioning procedures.

You will review and prepare project deliverables as per project & client requirements and ensure Class / SCE & Process safety standard verification activities are included in commissioning deliverables. Supporting development of company work methodology and procedures is expected, as is preparing lists and procurement of required tools, utilities and other items for commissioning activities of the assigned system.

In execution you will be responsible for successful and safe commissioning of the area/systems under the guidance of the lead commissioning engineer and following the commissioning strategy set by the commissioning manager. • Operations teams, and ensure adherence to Operations safe system of work regarding all assigned System Commissioning Scope of Work. Day-to-day duties include managing the PTW, assigned technicians, operations support, supplier support and CLASS witness.

You will execute approved commissioning procedures including verification of performance standard, securing certification from Class Society and offering test reports for signoff, and assist in system dossiers completion for handover. Management of change within the system during the commissioning phase must be handled and communicated to suppliers and supporting team members.

Work closely with the MC coordinator and commissioning coordinator for timely completion of the ITR, mechanical completion and commissioning completion. Attend FAT & SAT depending on project requirements, verify and close out safety critical elements associated with commissioning, and ensure all regulatory and statutory testing and requirements are performed and records are maintained.

Prepare and maintain commissioning records of site observations, testing processes and checklists. Perform risk assessment for the commissioning scope and conduct toolbox meetings. Ensure technicians carry out commissioning activities in a safe and controlled manner in accordance with site procedures and PTW requirements.

Ensure preservation & maintenance activities are performed as per company procedure/process during the commissioning phase. Day-to-day planning of work, managing schedule & targets of the project, and preparing timely and accurate technical reports for management and future reference are part of the role.

You may perform offshore commissioning, assist facility startup, and perform start-up at offshore following start-up procedure, stabilization and performance testing. Participation in audits of procedures, safety practices and documentation/records with reference to corporate standard procedures is required to ensure compliance and identify gaps and training enhancement requirements of team members.

Coordination and stakeholder interaction

You will work closely with MC Coordinator and Lead Commissioning Engineer for timely completion of ITRs, mechanical completion and commissioning completion. Interaction with other engineering departments to obtain engineering and vendor documents is required.

You will independently deal with regulatory authority, class, vendors and clients regarding comments or queries on commissioning deliverables and develop technical/engineering solutions to issues raised. Coordination of functional testing of commissioned systems and engaging the Operations team when needed forms part of the role.

Interaction with suppliers, subcontractors, yards, clients and Class as required for site execution support will be expected. Provide lessons learnt and improvement opportunities based on project experience and incorporate best practices received from past projects.

Commissioning services & subcontractor management

Ensure subcontractor / FSR / Third Party services are completed as per planned schedule and support review and evaluation of third party services engagement (technical) for commissioning scope. Review, develop and approve commissioning schedule for execution, commissioning scope of work to engage third party services, and develop third party services engagement (technical) for commissioning scope.

Discipline-specific focus

• Mechanical: Good knowledge on functionality of FPSO, focus in Topsides, Marine Mechanical & Process systems.
• Instrumentation & control: Good knowledge on functionality of FPSO, focus in Instrumentation & Control systems (Process Control System, Safety Instrumented System, SIL/SIF verification) preferentially with knowledge of eminent DCS equipment and software providers. Capable to manage troubleshooting of Instrumentation & Control systems. Certified in ATEX or equivalent.
• Electrical: Good knowledge on functionality & troubleshooting of Electrical Systems. Certified in ATEX or equivalent.
• Telecom: Good knowledge on functionality & troubleshooting of Telecom systems. Certified in ATEX or equivalent.

Relationships, reporting and culture

Reporting shall be as per Corporate / Project Organisation chart. Develop relationships with client technical or service personnel, maintain good relationships with team members and motivate as required. Willingness to work and train others in a team environment, assisting other multi-cultural and interdepartmental team members is important.
