Duties & Responsibilities

Data Analyst / Business Data Analyst – Transactional Banking

Purpose of the Role

We are looking for an experienced Data Analyst / Business Data Analyst to support a strategic data transformation programme focused on centralising transactional banking data into a Data Lakehouse.

The successful candidate will work closely with Business, Finance, Technology, and Data Engineering teams to analyse transactional banking processes, define business and data requirements, improve financial reconciliation, and deliver trusted data products that enable reporting, analytics, and revenue assurance.

Required Skills & Experience

Banking & Financial Services

• Minimum 5 years' experience as a Data Analyst or Business Data Analyst.
• Experience within Banking or Financial Services.
• Strong understanding of:
• Transactional Banking
• Payments
• Core Banking
• General Ledger (GL)
• Financial Reconciliation

Data Analysis

• Experience with:
• Data profiling
• Data quality assessment
• Data mapping
• Root cause analysis
• Business rule definition
• KPI development
• Reporting requirements

Technical Skills

• Strong SQL skills with the ability to analyse large and complex datasets.
• Knowledge of:
• Data Warehousing
• Data Lakehouse
• Data lineage
• Metadata management
• Experience with enterprise data migration or transformation projects.
• Experience using Power BI or similar analytics and visualisation tools.

Business Analysis

• Ability to gather and document business requirements.
• Facilitate workshops with business stakeholders.
• Translate business requirements into technical and data specifications.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will

• Analyse end-to-end transaction flows across digital channels, core banking systems, and finance platforms.
• Identify data sources, data quality issues, and reconciliation gaps affecting financial reporting.
• Define business requirements, data mappings, and analytical models for the Data Lakehouse.
• Develop KPIs, reconciliation controls, and reporting requirements.
• Partner with Business, Finance, Technology, and Data Engineering teams to deliver trusted, business-ready data products.
• Support financial transparency through improved reporting and analytics.
• Identify opportunities to improve reconciliation processes and reduce revenue leakage.
