Senior AWS Engineer/ Developer

Introduction

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior AWS Engineer / Developer to design, develop, and support secure, scalable, and cloud-native applications on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role is ideal for a hands-on software engineer with extensive AWS expertise who is passionate about building resilient, high-performance solutions using modern cloud technologies.

The successful candidate will collaborate with architecture, engineering, security, and DevOps teams to deliver enterprise-grade applications, preferably within a banking or financial services environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement cloud-native applications and solutions on AWS.
• Build scalable, resilient, secure, and cost-optimized cloud architectures.
• Develop high-quality, production-ready software throughout the full software development lifecycle.
• Design and develop microservices, RESTful APIs, and event-driven applications using AWS services.
• Develop serverless applications using AWS Lambda and related AWS-native services.
• Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
• Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline, or similar technologies.
• Collaborate with architects, developers, and DevOps teams to deliver cloud solutions aligned with business requirements.
• Implement DevSecOps best practices to ensure secure software delivery.
• Configure and manage core AWS services including EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, IAM, VPC, S3, RDS/Aurora, and SQS/SNS.
• Ensure cloud environments meet security, governance, compliance, and audit requirements.
• Monitor application performance, troubleshoot production issues, and optimize cloud infrastructure.
• Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to cloud strategy and best practices.
• Produce technical documentation and maintain cloud deployment standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering excellence across development teams.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years' experience in software engineering or application development.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience developing and deploying cloud-native applications on AWS.
• Strong programming experience in Python, Java, Go, or Node.js.
• Extensive hands-on experience with AWS services including:
• EC2
• ECS/EKS
• AWS Lambda
• API Gateway
• IAM
• VPC
• S3
• RDS/Aurora
• SQS/SNS
• Proven experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
• Strong knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes (EKS preferred).
• Experience designing and developing microservices, RESTful APIs, and event-driven architectures.
• Solid experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline, or equivalent.
• Good understanding of DevSecOps principles, cloud security, and secure software development practices.
• Experience working with Git version control and Agile software development methodologies.
• AWS Certification such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate/Professional) or AWS Certified Developer – Associate is highly desirable.
• Experience within the banking, financial services, or other highly regulated environments will be advantageous.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
