About the Job
Forvis Mazars is looking for a senior, hands-on engineer to join the immediate delivery of an AI-enabled data and decision intelligence product. You will work close to users and decision-makers, turning complex data and business concepts into reliable software that can be used in live operations.
Your Why
This is a build role, not an advisory-only role. You will own work across the stack, from source data and data models through semantic structures, APIs, user experiences, deployment and production support.
What will your day look like?
- Translate ambiguous business problems into testable technical designs and working product increments.
- Build and maintain full-stack product features across web interfaces, APIs, services and databases.
- Design ingestion, validation, transformation and reconciliation pipelines for structured and semi-structured data.
- Create robust canonical and analytical data models that support operational workflows and decision-making.
- Design and implement ontologies, semantic models and knowledge graphs that represent entities, relationships, events and business rules.
- Connect the semantic layer to search, analytics and AI capabilities, including RAG or GraphRAG where these approaches add real value.
- Preserve data lineage, source provenance, effective dates and evidence so that outputs are explainable and auditable.
- Implement secure APIs, authentication, role-based access, logging, monitoring and operational controls.
- Deploy, test, monitor and improve the product through short delivery cycles.
- Work directly with stakeholders, demonstrate progress frequently and adapt the solution from real user feedback.
What skills will position you for success?
- Senior engineering experience: Typically 7 or more years of relevant software and data engineering experience, or equivalent evidence of depth and delivery ownership.
- Current hands-on coding: Recent experience shipping, debugging and supporting production software. This role requires an active builder.
- Full-stack engineering: Strong capability in modern web development, ideally TypeScript and React or equivalent, together with Python, FastAPI, Node.js or comparable backend technologies.
- API and service design: Practical experience designing secure REST or GraphQL APIs, service boundaries, authentication and integration patterns.
- Data engineering: Strong Python and SQL skills, with experience building ETL or ELT pipelines, validation routines and repeatable data processing workflows.
- Data modelling: Ability to design canonical, relational, dimensional or event-based models and make sound decisions about structure, history and performance.
- Ontologies and knowledge graphs: Practical experience designing and implementing semantic models, ontologies or knowledge graphs using relevant standards and technologies such as RDF, OWL, SHACL, SPARQL, Neo4j, Cypher or equivalent.
- Semantic engineering: Experience defining business concepts, entity identity, relationships, classifications, temporal meaning, provenance and controlled vocabularies.
- Applied AI: Experience integrating LLMs, RAG, GraphRAG, semantic search or agentic workflows, with appropriate evaluation, guardrails and human oversight.
- Data trust: A strong approach to data quality, reconciliation, lineage, traceability, testing and evidence-backed outputs.
- Production delivery: Experience with Git, automated testing, Docker, CI/CD, cloud deployment, observability and secure engineering practices.
- Forward-deployed working style: The ability to work directly with stakeholders, discover requirements through delivery, communicate trade-offs clearly and take ownership from problem to production.
Additional skills that will position you for success
- A pragmatic system thinker who can move comfortably between product, data, semantics and software architecture.
- Someone who is energised by ambiguity and can create structure without waiting for perfect requirements.
- A clear communicator who can explain complex technical decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A delivery-focused engineer who values working software, trustworthy data and maintainable design.
