Accounts Payable (AP) Supervisor - Manufacturing

Introduction

Purpose Of the Position

An opportunity exists for an Accounts Payable Supervisor to coordinate and reconcile the operational, settlement and financial processes relating to precious metal purchasing and trading activities.

The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the accurate administration of metal receipts, supplier settlements, trade fulfilment, relevant inventory movements, invoicing and cash flow forecasting, while maintaining strong financial controls.

The position acts as a key interface between Production, Trading, Treasury and Finance to ensure that precious metal transactions are accurately processed, settled and reported.

Duties & Responsibilities

Qualification Requirements

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Accounting or other relevant qualification

Experience Requirement

• Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in accounts payable and accounting in a manufacturing environment
• Any experience or exposure to metals, mining, refinery or commodity trading environments will be advantageous

Responsibilities include but not limited to

Cash Flow and Metal Funding Operations

• Prepare and maintain daily operational cash flow forecasts
• Participate in daily production and operations meetings to understand expected metal receipts and funding requirements
• Align cash flow requirements with production plans and supplier payment obligations
• Monitor incoming customer receipts and allocate funds against invoices, shipments and UCR references
• Ensure all cash movements relating to purchases and sales are accurately recorded and reconciled

Precious Metals Receipts and Supplier Settlements

• Review and reconcile all precious metal receipts against purchase orders and receiving documents
• Ensure the correct fee is charged according to supplier agreements
• Validate assay results for final supplier settlements
• Review supplier payment reconciliations and payment requests and ensure timely settlement of supplier obligations
• Process supplier credit notes and settlement adjustments.
• Manage supplier account reconciliations and query resolution

Precious Metals Inventory Control

• Ensure accurate recording of metal receipts, transfers and dispatches
• Manage warehouse transfers and inventory movements between internal and external storage locations
• Support month-end inventory verification processes

Administration

• Administer the toll movements from receipt of customer material through to dispatch

Trade Operations and Settlements

• Allocate metal shipments to customer orders and trading transactions
• Verify trade documentation against sales orders and trading contracts
• Monitor trade fulfilment activities and shipment status
• Generate invoices for precious metal sales
• Perform weighted-average metal costing calculations where required
• Review transaction profitability and contribution margins
• Ensure accurate revenue recognition and transaction recording
• Support month-end reporting and margin analysis.

Financial Control and Reconciliations

• Perform daily, weekly and monthly reconciliations relating to:
• Supplier accounts
• Relevant Metal inventory
• Trade settlements
• Bank transactions
• Investigate and resolve reconciliation exceptions
• Maintain appropriate audit trails and support documentation
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies
