Estimator - Project Cargo | Mining

About This Role

Are you an experienced Project Cargo Estimator who enjoys finding the best solutions for complex cargo movements?

We're looking for an Estimator to join our Mining division, where you'll be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive quotations for project cargo and out-of-gauge shipments across multiple transport modes. This role is ideal for someone who understands the complexities of project logistics, has strong commercial awareness, and can confidently source the best solutions from a network of service providers.

What You Will Be Doing

As our Estimator, you'll be responsible for

• Preparing accurate and competitive quotations for Project Cargo, Breakbulk, Out-of-Gauge (OOG), Ro-Ro and Over Border shipments.
• Managing enquiries from both internal stakeholders and external clients.
• Sourcing competitive pricing from transport providers and obtaining multiple quotations where possible.
• Developing practical, cost-effective logistics solutions that meet customer requirements.
• Assessing commercial and operational risks before submitting quotations.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with carriers, transport providers and other key suppliers.
• Ensuring all estimates are completed accurately and within agreed turnaround times.
• Maintaining organised pricing records and quotation history.
• Providing a comprehensive handover to the Operations team once business is secured, including cost sheets and supplier pricing documentation.

What We Are Looking For

• Grade 12 (Matric).
• Relevant qualification or diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years' experience preparing estimates within the freight forwarding or logistics industry.
• Proven experience preparing estimates and quotations specifically for Project Cargo is essential.
• Strong knowledge of multiple modes of transport, including road, sea and specialised cargo movements.
• Experience pricing complex logistics solutions from enquiry through to final quotation.

Key Skills

• Strong commercial and financial understanding.
• Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills.
• High level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Knowledge of Project Cargo, Tenders, Breakbulk, Out-of-Gauge (OOG), Ro-Ro and Over Border logistics will be highly advantageous.
• Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to work accurately under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
