Senior Procurement Specialist (Indirect Procurement)

Ecolab is looking for a Senior Procurement Representative with a focus in indirect procurement for our Supply Chain department.

Job Characteristics: Provides category support to one of the majors spend categories. May also work in a specialty area such as compliance, systems, and processes. Contracts, selects, and negotiates with vendors. Evaluates vendor reliability and follows up on any problems regarding the use of purchased materials.

Works closely daily with suppliers and internal associates including planners, and plant procurement associates to help ensure high service and quality levels that align to the negotiated terms of the supplier contract. Negotiates contracts. May give some guidance and direction to other Procurement Specialists.

Duties

• Timely procurement and delivery of high-quality products for clients
• Preparing of Job Orders
• Ensure delivery of procured items
• Dealings with suppliers, manufacturers and vendors as regards quality electromechanical and building products used in the maintenance of a high-rise building facilities.
• Discover profitable suppliers and initiate business and organization partnerships
• Negotiate with external vendors to secure advantageous terms
• Approve the ordering of necessary goods and services
• Finalize purchase details of orders and deliveries
• Examine and test existing contracts
• Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
• Collaborate with key persons to ensure clarity of the specifications and expectations of the company
• Foresee alterations in the comparative negotiating ability of suppliers and clients
• Expect unfavourable events through analysis of data and prepare control strategies
• Perform risk management for supply contracts and agreements
• Control spend and build a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs
• Manages day-to-day activities within designated supplier relationships for existing suppliers in their assigned categories.
• Manages service level and quality complaint resolution as required for existing supplier base.
• Identifies, communicates, and supports process improvements for materials or services in assigned areas and with key stakeholders as required.
• Uses TDC sourcing processes and tools to effectively manage assigned sub-categories.
• Responsible for executing sourcing strategies and savings projects within assigned sub-categories.
• Acts as second line of defense in expediting orders to ensure adherence to contracted delivery terms and investigates and resolves problems as required.
• Identifies alternate suppliers and/or alternate materials/processes and drives approval process.
• Owns contract process for assigned category. Responsibility for ensuring contracts within the category are updated, accurate, and uploaded in the required contract system.
• Responsible for financial reporting of savings projects and headwinds. Manages the tight materials process to ensure security of supply.
• Support Ecolab’s quality systems through engagement with suppliers to work toward successful corrective action resolution and continued quality.

• 5-7 years experience in raw materials
• Must have industry experience from the water treatment sector
• Must have industry experience from the chemical manufacturing industry

Role and Responsibilities:Interviews, selects, and negotiates with vendors. Works closely on a daily basis with suppliers and internal associates including planners, and plant procurement associates to help ensure high service and quality levels that align to the negotiated terms of the supplier contract.

Coordinates with purchasing, production, warehouse and engineering personnel to ensure proper scheduling and movement of materials. Maintains accurate records of inventories to ensure that sufficient levels of raw materials are maintained (Directs/Equipment).

Education/Work Experience:Degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry, or related business degree plus broad experience in purchasing and supervision. Five or more years of work experience.

Independence Level/Reports to: Has authority to issue purchase agreements, blanket orders, and purchase orders within corporate purchasing policy to achieve desired results. Has primary authority for sourcing items with qualified vendors. Selects, trains, motivates, promotes, and disciplines staff based on company policy. Normally reports to Sr. Procurement Manager or Operations Vice President.
