Senior Procurement Officer

Introduction

Versapak is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Senior Procurement Officer to manage the sourcing and purchasing of materials, products and services required by the business.

The successful candidate must have strong supplier-management, negotiation and procurement experience, together with practical working experience on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Source materials, products and services from approved and prospective suppliers.
• Obtain and compare quotations based on price, quality, lead time and payment terms.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules and supply agreements.
• Create, process and manage purchase orders on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
• Monitor outstanding purchase orders and follow up on late or incomplete deliveries.
• Maintain suitable stock levels while preventing unnecessary overstocking.
• Work closely with production, warehouse, sales and finance departments to confirm purchasing requirements.
• Identify alternative suppliers and cost-saving opportunities.
• Manage relationships with local and international suppliers.
• Resolve pricing, quantity, quality and delivery discrepancies.
• Monitor and report on supplier performance.
• Maintain accurate supplier, pricing and procurement information on Business Central.
• Ensure purchases comply with company procedures and approval requirements.
• Assist with procurement budgets, monthly reports and spend analysis.
• Support stock-management and cost-control initiatives.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12/Matric certificate.
• A minimum of 3–5 years’ procurement or buying experience.
• Practical working experience on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is essential.
• Strong supplier-sourcing and negotiation experience.
• Experience creating and managing purchase orders.
• Good understanding of pricing, lead times, stock levels and supplier performance.
• Strong Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook skills.
• Excellent numerical, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong attention to detail and administrative accuracy.
• Ability to manage urgent procurement requirements and work under pressure.
• Strong communication and supplier relationship-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of procurement activities.

Market-related salary of R30 000 per month (R360 000 per annum), depending on experience and qualifications.
