Key Responsibilities
- Compliance Leadership Design, implement, and continuously enhance the organization's compliance framework.
- Monitor changes to legislation and regulatory requirements, ensuring the business remains compliant.
- Develop and maintain compliance policies, standards, and risk management plans.
- Provide trusted regulatory guidance to business stakeholders.
- Manage relationships with regulatory authorities and coordinate all regulatory submissions and interactions.
- Enterprise Risk Management Drive the implementation and ongoing development of the enterprise risk management framework.
- Lead enterprise-wide risk identification, assessment, mitigation, and monitoring activities.
- Maintain the corporate risk register and ensure material risks are appropriately escalated.
- Embed risk appetite principles into strategic and operational decision-making.
- Deliver meaningful risk reporting to executive management and governance committees.
- Monitoring, Controls & Assurance Develop risk-based monitoring and assurance programs.
- Oversee the management of compliance incidents, breaches, and corrective action plans.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and governance processes.
- Produce clear and insightful reporting for senior leadership and board committees.
- Corporate Governance Support governance committees through high-quality reporting and risk insights.
- Promote adherence to corporate governance principles and regulatory expectations.
- Act as an independent advisor while maintaining appropriate oversight responsibilities.
- Coordinate regulatory reviews, audits, and external inspections.
- Leadership & Culture Champion a strong culture of ethics, compliance, and risk awareness across the organization.
- Develop and facilitate training initiatives to improve regulatory understanding.
- Lead, mentor, and develop members of the compliance and risk team.
- Build capability within the control environment to support business growth.
- Strategic Partnership Contribute to strategic initiatives, new products, and business projects by providing governance and risk input.
- Monitor emerging regulatory developments and industry trends.
- Ensure compliance and risk considerations are integrated into commercial decision-making.
- Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Risk Management, Commerce, or a related discipline . A postgraduate qualification in Compliance, Risk Management, or Governance will be advantageous.
- Registered FAIS Compliance Officer (Category applicable). Experience Required 6-8 years' experience within compliance, enterprise risk, or governance in the financial services sector.
- Previous experience within the insurance industry will be advantageous.
- Demonstrated experience engaging with financial regulators and overseeing regulatory compliance.
- Proven leadership experience managing compliance and/or enterprise risk functions.
- Strong exposure to board reporting, governance committees, and executive stakeholder engagement.
