Senior Risk & Compliance Analyst

Introduction

A dynamic and growing legal firm based in Tyger Valley is seeking a Senior Risk & Compliance Analyst.

The role supports fee earners and business functions in managing client and matter risk, including AML, KYC, conflicts, and regulatory compliance. It involves overseeing complex onboarding processes, supervising junior team members, ensuring firm-wide compliance, and contributing to continuous process improvement and team development.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end client onboarding and due diligence processes, including:
• Sending Legl onboarding requests to clients, directors, and beneficial owners and assessing identity requirements and verifying documentation
• Performing conflict, sanctions, PEP, and adverse media screening
• Supporting clients with onboarding queries and resolving screening matches
• Maintaining accurate client records across firm systems
• Conducting risk-based analysis and assigning client risk ratings and completing client and matter risk assessments
• Updating the firm’s case management system with compliance information
• Undertake complex AML risk assessments and enhanced due diligence on high-risk clients, with escalation to the Head of Risk & Compliance and MLRO where appropriate
• Liaise effectively with internal stakeholders, clients, and third parties on CDD and compliance matter
• Perform periodic reviews and ongoing monitoring of open and closed client files to ensure data remains current and compliant with regulatory requirements
• Enhance and maintain compliance systems and controls, including, improving internal checklists and procedures and keeping systems aligned with evolving AML legislation and regulatory expectations
• Maintain accurate digital records and audit trails, ensuring compliance with firm policies and regulatory standards
• Supervise and provide guidance to junior analysts, including, reviewing work outputs and conducting peer quality checks, providing training and technical support and acting as a point of escalation
• Support the Head of Risk & Compliance with regulatory queries and third-party questionnaires, internal audits and file reviews, policy updates and implementation and team management
• Monitor regulatory developments and emerging risks, ensuring the firm remains compliant and best practice is followed
• Conduct investigations into compliance issues and transactions, providing recommendations and mitigation strategies
• Assist with and lead on ad hoc projects, including process improvements and system enhancements
• Manage and maintain the joint Compliance Inbox

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Matric plus law degree
• Strong working knowledge of AML, KYC, and regulatory compliance within a law firm or financial services environment
• Prior experience in a legal compliance function is essential
• Experience handling complex due diligence and high-risk client scenarios
• Proven ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
• Experience mentoring or supervising junior team members
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
• Confident communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders
• Proactive, solutions-focused, and commercially aware

Working hours: 09:00 - 18:00 / 10:00 - 19:00 (Monday - Friday)
