Overview

An established inbound luxury Destination Management Company (DMC) is expanding its presence in Cape Town and is seeking an experienced Senior Luxury Inbound Travel Consultant. This hire is driven by team growth, recent resignations, and regional expansion.

The business specialises in designing bespoke travel experiences for international clients, with a strong focus on the North American market. The role requires a deep understanding of the luxury travel segment, which differs significantly from budget or group travel.

This position will be primarily Cape Town-focused (±90%), forming part of a growing local team.

Duties & Responsibilities

Role Purpose

To design, quote, and manage high-end, tailor-made travel itineraries across Southern Africa, with additional exposure to East Africa preferred. The role involves end-to-end tour management, ensuring seamless delivery of exceptional client experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and quote bespoke luxury itineraries across Southern and East Africa
• Manage the full lifecycle of bookings from quotation through to post-travel closure
• Book and coordinate all travel services including accommodation, transfers, and activities
• Ensure all itineraries run smoothly and deliver a high-end client experience
• Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, including luxury lodges and service providers
• Handle client queries and resolve issues efficiently, including after-hours support while clients are travelling
• Reconfirm all services prior to travel
• Prepare detailed and accurate travel documentation
• Coordinate invoicing and payments with the accounts team
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date tour administration

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum 3+ years’ experience as a luxury inbound travel consultant
• Strong understanding of the luxury travel market (essential)
• Extensive knowledge of Southern Africa destinations (essential)

East Africa experience (highly advantageous)

• Proven experience working with high-end lodges, hotels, and bespoke travel experiences
• Proficiency in TourPlan (non-negotiable)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage high volumes of work under pressure without compromising accuracy
• Strong problem-solving and crisis management ability
• Ability to work both independently and within a team

Work Arrangement

• Hybrid model: 2–3 days per week in office
• Must be based in Cape Town
• No fully remote option available

Package & Remuneration

R30 000 - R40 000 CTC per month
