JUNIOR PROJECT MANAGER - EC&I PROJECTS

Introduction

A well-established electrical engineering and automation solutions provider is looking for a Junior Project Manager to join their project team in Bellville, Cape Town.

This role is suited to a developing project professional with exposure to electrical engineering, EC&I, automation, instrumentation or industrial project environments. The successful candidate will assist with the planning, coordination and delivery of electrical engineering projects, working closely with clients and internal teams across design, workshop, installation and support.

Experience in Food and Beverage, FMCG, processing, packaging, manufacturing or similar industrial environments will be highly advantageous.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assisting with the planning and coordination of electrical engineering / EC&I projects.
• Managing allocated project tasks under the guidance of the HOD or Senior Project Manager.
• Preparing and maintaining project plans, schedules and project documentation.
• Coordinating activities between design, workshop, installation and support teams.
• Monitoring project progress and providing regular status updates.
• Attending client meetings and site visits when required.
• Building and maintaining professional client relationships.
• Identifying project risks or delays and escalating concerns where needed.
• Assisting with project variations, amendments and quotations.
• Ensuring project documentation is accurate and up to date.
• Assisting with project close-out documentation, handovers and client sign-off.
• Supporting project delivery to ensure work is completed safely, on time, within budget and in line with quality standards.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Grade 12.
• Project Management qualification will be advantageous.
• Electrical Engineering qualification, National Diploma, N6, S4, BTech or similar technical qualification will be advantageous.
• A trade-tested electrical background may also be considered if supported by relevant project coordination, EC&I, automation or instrumentation exposure.
• 1–3 years’ experience in project management, project coordination, electrical project support or a similar technical project role.
• Exposure to EC&I projects will be advantageous.
• Basic knowledge of EC&I installations.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Basic understanding of project planning and scheduling.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Willingness to travel to client sites when required.

Ideal Background | Suitable candidates may currently be working as a:

Junior Project Manager, Project Coordinator, Electrical Project Coordinator, EC&I Project Coordinator, Automation Project Coordinator, Junior Project Engineer, Electrical Technician, Automation Technician, Instrumentation Technician or trade-tested Electrician moving into project coordination.

Preference will be given to candidates with exposure to EC&I, electrical engineering, automation, instrumentation or industrial project environments, especially within Food and Beverage, FMCG, processing, packaging or manufacturing.

The role spec highlights project coordination, client communication, internal team coordination, documentation, site visits, EC&I knowledge and the ability to read electrical drawings as important requirements.
