Internship - Frontend Developer

We are adding an Internship - Frontend Developer to our team to support our advisory work through technical tools. Our partner is a major UK financial firm where we are currently reviewing how management decisions are tracked and communicated. You will work on the web-based tools that help these teams keep a clear, written record of their work.

This is a chance to build clean, functional tools that support better decision making processes without the clutter of traditional corporate software.

About the Role

This position supports both our advisory practice and our commitment to practical, usable tools. At Olive Tree, we do not believe that more software is always the answer, but we do believe that the right tools can make management habits stick. You will assist in developing frontend components that prioritize clarity and ease of use over complex features.

Because our firm operates on a fully remote basis, you will collaborate with the team through structured digital channels, focusing on building interfaces that are as plain-spoken and direct as our consulting advice. The goal is to create a user experience where the structure of the work is obvious and the record of ownership is undeniable.

What You Will Do

• Work on the development of clean and responsive user interfaces using modern web technologies.
• Collaborate with the consulting team to turn management concepts into functional digital components.
• Maintain and improve our library of reusable visual elements to ensure consistency across different tools.
• Test interfaces across different browsers and devices to ensure a smooth experience for all users.
• Write clear documentation for the code you produce so that others can easily follow your logic and structure.
• Participate in weekly reviews to discuss progress and refine the user experience based on direct feedback from the team.
• Identify and fix small bugs or layout issues in existing pages to keep the interface reliable.
• Help translate technical requirements into plain English for members of the firm who do not have a technical background.

What We Are Looking For

A foundational understanding of HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript. A genuine interest in how people use software to solve work related problems. An eye for detail and an appreciation for clean, uncluttered design. Comfort working in a fully remote environment where clear written communication is vital. The ability to ask questions when instructions are unclear and to seek feedback early in your process.

A structured approach to tasks, ensuring that small details are not overlooked during development. Willingness to learn new frameworks and tools as the project requirements evolve over time. A preference for simplicity and clarity over complex or flashy visual effects. Helpful Background Experience with a modern JavaScript framework, such as React or Vue, through personal projects or school coursework.

Basic knowledge of version control tools like Git for managing code changes. Familiarity with CSS preprocessors or modern styling systems. Previous experience in a role or project that required organizing messy information into a clear format. Current enrollment in or recent completion of a computer science or web development program.
