Nurse Practitioner

Locums First is looking for Nurse Practitioners to support a patient-focused GP practice in Aberdeen.

This role offers a clinically supportive environment with clear protocols, efficient admin processes and access to senior clinicians for advice, helping you deliver confident autonomous care while maintaining safe escalation routes.

Up to 3 days a week available with flexible session planning.

Role Snapshot

• An NP role centred on minor illness, triage support and high-quality patient access.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide autonomous assessment and management of acute and minor illness presentations
• Conduct telephone and face-to-face consultations and complete appropriate safety netting
• Prescribe or supply medication within scope and follow practice prescribing policy
• Request and interpret investigations and arrange follow-up plans
• Contribute to chronic disease monitoring where appropriate and within competency
• Document consultations accurately with robust coding and clear clinical rationale
• Work closely with the wider team to support same-day demand and patient flow

Requirements

• NMC registration and a recognised Nurse Practitioner qualification or equivalent experience
• Independent Prescriber qualification preferred where applicable to the role
• Recent experience in UK primary care, urgent care or a comparable setting
• Confidence managing minor illness independently and recognising clinical red flags
• Sound knowledge of safeguarding and infection prevention procedures
• Right to work in the UK with compliance documentation available

Working Pattern

• Part-time locum sessions available up to 3 days per week
• Flexibility offered for set days, rotating cover or short-notice shifts
• Daytime working with an agreed appointment template and admin time where possible
