Treasury Associate

The Municipal Group of Companies is comprised of more than 30 operating companies in the civil construction, waste management, mining, transportation, and courier industries with operations in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Quebec and outside Canada. We are seeking a qualified Treasury Associate to join our team based out of Bedford, NS.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Treasury Manager, the Treasury Associate assists in managing daily liquidity, bank account administration, and supporting vendor onboarding by conducting confirmation of banking details. This role requires strong fraud prevention awareness, specifically regarding Business Email Compromise (BEC) and vendor payment fraud.

Key Responsibilities

Bank Account Administration & Maintenance

The Treasury Associate will assist in managing corporate bank account setups, ongoing maintenance, and closures across all financial institutions. This includes maintaining the corporate bank signatory database to ensure signing authorities are updated immediately upon any personnel changes.

Additionally, the role coordinates all Know Your Customer (KYC) documentation and anti-money laundering (AML) compliance requests from banking partners. Operational oversight will also extend to assist in managing corporate credit card programs - including card issuance and credit limit adjustments - and auditing monthly bank fee statements to identify billing errors and optimize cost structures.

• Serve as a champion for cyber security awareness within treasury and accounts payable processes.
• Assist in the vendor set-up process as it relates to confirmation of all new or modified bank details.
• Maintain the secure vendor master file, ensuring no unauthorized changes to banking information.
• Participate in cyber awareness training and stay informed of emerging fraud trends and threats.

Cash Position Monitoring

• Monitor daily cash positions across CAD and USD accounts.

Required Skills, Knowledge, Education and Experience

• Minimum 5 years' experience in banking, treasury, finance, accounting, or risk management (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
• High level of cyber security awareness and understanding of common financial fraud schemes, with proven experience applying cyber-related internal controls and anti-fraud protocols.
• Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field. CTP, or plan to pursue a CTP considered an asset.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and adept with digital systems and corporate online banking platforms.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, maintain confidentiality, and collaborate successfully across teams.
