Site Director – E-Commerce Logistics

As we aim to accelerate growth in Canada, we are actively seeking a Site Director to support the launch of our newest site in Halifax, NS.
Position Overview
The Site Director is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and profitability of a dedicated third-party logistics (3PL) operation supporting a major e-commerce client. This role oversees all aspects of warehousing, fulfillment, transportation coordination, inventory management, customer service, safety, and employee engagement within a fast-paced, high-volume distribution environment.
As the senior leader on site, the Site Manager ensures operational excellence while consistently meeting or exceeding client service-level agreements (SLAs), productivity targets, quality standards, and financial objectives.
The successful candidate will foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, safety, and customer focus while leading a team of supervisors, warehouse associates, and support personnel.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Direct all day-to-day warehouse and fulfillment operations, including receiving, inventory control, order fulfillment, value-added services, shipping, and returns processing.
- Ensure all client-specific service requirements and KPIs are achieved or exceeded.
- Lead workforce planning activities to support seasonal fluctuations and peak e-commerce volumes.
- Monitor operational performance through established metrics and implement corrective actions when required.
- Drive operational efficiency, throughput, accuracy, and service quality initiatives.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) that support best-in-class execution.
Client Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary site-level contact for the client.
- Build strong client partnerships through regular communication, performance reviews, and issue resolution.
- Present site performance metrics, improvement plans, and business updates during client meetings.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve service levels, reduce costs, and enhance the customer experience.
- Support business growth initiatives and contract expansion opportunities.
Financial Management
- Manage site operating budgets, labour costs, and capital expenditures.
- Monitor financial performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
- Analyze labour productivity, overtime utilization, operational expenses, and inventory-related costs.
- Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Ensure adherence to financial controls and company policies.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop supervisors, team leads, and operational staff.
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure staffing levels align with operational requirements.
- Conduct performance reviews, succession planning, and employee development activities.
- Promote a positive workplace culture that supports employee retention and engagement.
Safety, Compliance & Quality
- Champion a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with all provincial and federal regulations.
- Maintain compliance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements in Nova Scotia.
- Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure inventory accuracy and quality standards are maintained throughout all operational processes.
- Oversee security procedures and loss prevention initiatives.
Continuous Improvement
- Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies to drive operational excellence.
- Analyze facility performance data and identify process improvement opportunities.
- Lead warehouse optimization projects involving layout, technology, automation, and workflow enhancements.
- Support implementation of Warehouse Management System (WMS) enhancements and new client requirements.

Qualifications & Experience
Required
- 5–10+ years of progressive leadership experience in warehousing, distribution, logistics, or supply chain operations.
- Minimum 3–5 years managing a distribution centre or large operational team.
- Experience within dedicated 3PL environment.
- Experience supporting high-volume e-commerce fulfillment operations.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing operating budgets and labour costs.
- Demonstrated success leading large teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory management, and operational reporting.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and client relationship management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and operational reporting tools.
Preferred
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Lean, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement certification.
- APICS, SCMP, CSCMP, or related professional designation.
- Experience implementing automation or warehouse technology solutions.
Working Conditions
- Warehouse and office environment.
- May require occasional evening, weekend, or holiday support during peak e-commerce periods.
- Ability to walk the warehouse floor regularly and oversee operations in a physically active environment.
- Occasional travel within Canada for training, client meetings, or company events.
Base Salary: $120-130,000/year
Bonus: 20%
