IMMEDIATE INTERIM OPPORTUNITY

Interim Director of Project Management

Reports to: General Manager

Location: Waterloo, Canada

Duration: 12 Month (Hybrid)

Our client is seeking an experienced Director of Project Management to lead the delivery of complex, cross-functional, and strategic projects. The successful candidate will provide leadership to the Project Management function, oversee project execution throughout the project lifecycle, and drive operational excellence while ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide senior leadership and oversight to the Project Management team.
• Develop and enhance project management systems, processes, and tools to support effective project delivery.
• Lead complex cross-functional projects from initiation through commercialization and implementation.
• Manage project portfolios, project KPIs, budgets, timelines, and resource planning.
• Support technology transfer, product launches, contract management, and strategic initiatives.
• Serve as a key liaison with executive leadership teams, stakeholders, vendors, and customers.
• Drive strategic planning activities related to growth, project execution, and operational improvement.
• Develop, coach, mentor, and manage project management professionals.
• Support quality, regulatory, and compliance requirements across projects and programs.
• Represent the organization with external stakeholders, clients, and industry partners as required.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's Degree in Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• PMP certification or equivalent project management training preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive project management experience with leadership responsibility.
• Proven experience leading complex cross-functional projects and project portfolios.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting, project scheduling, and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Demonstrated ability to manage customer relationships and executive-level communications.
• Experience with project management methodologies, governance frameworks, and process improvement initiatives.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and related project management tools.
• Strong people leadership, coaching, and performance management skills.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

• Ability to work in a dynamic operational environment.
• Periodic domestic and international travel may be required.
• May occasionally support activities outside standard business hours to meet project requirements.
