Benefits Program Manager, Health & Wellbeing

Locations: Boston MA or Portsmouth NH. This role will follow a hybrid schedule, coming into the office two days per week.

Summary

As a Benefits Consultant, manage and optimize assigned health, well-being, and employee benefit programs through effective vendor management, program administration, project leadership, and stakeholder partnership.

Serve as a primary relationship manager for assigned vendors, consultants, brokers, and carriers, ensuring strong program performance, operational excellence, service delivery, and a positive employee experience.

Responsibilities

Working independently and in partnership with cross-functional teams, lead and support complex projects and strategic initiatives.

Support program implementations, RFPs, vendor transitions, process improvements, employee engagement efforts, compliance activities, and program enhancements.

Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across Human Resources, Procurement, Legal, Payroll, Communications, Employee Resource Groups, and other business functions.

Align benefit programs with organizational objectives and employee needs.

Partner with external consultants, brokers, carriers, and vendor partners to evaluate market trends and identify opportunities.

Address complex operational and service issues and develop recommendations that enhance program effectiveness, operational efficiency, and employee experience.

Utilize data, industry insights, and best practices to support decision-making and drive continuous improvement across health and well-being programs.

Qualifications

5-7 years of relevant and progressive experience in benefits or related experience, including knowledge of health, well-being and welfare and/or retirement programs.

Strong project management skills with experience leading complex initiatives.

Strong vendor management skills, including performance management, issue resolution, and service delivery oversight.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data and insights to develop recommendations and support decision-making.

Strong written and verbal communication required.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other business applications.

Knowledge of benefits-related regulations and compliance requirements, including ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and ACA preferred.

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent 5-7 years of relevant and progressive experience in benefits, including general and advanced knowledge of health and welfare and/or retirement programs and systems, advanced degree and/or designation preferred.

The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role.
