Media Sales Manager

August 2026 Type: Contract — Commission-Based Schedule: Flexible / Hybrid Location: Austin, TX Compensation: Commission-only. Earnings are directly tied to closed deals and monthly revenue performance, with uncapped upside based on inventory sold and sponsor retention.

Job Summary

The Media Sales Manager is a key revenue-generating role within Purple Jam, responsible for selling and closing deals across our full advertising and sponsorship inventory, including show ads, event sponsorships, web ad placements, and our annual magazine. This individual works with urgency and discipline to build pipeline, secure meetings, and close revenue on a consistent weekly and monthly basis.

The Media Sales Manager reports directly to the Community Partnerships Manager and works independently to prospect, pitch, close, and meet assigned revenue targets in alignment with Purple Jam's brand, mission, and community values.

Performance Expectations

• Secure and conduct a minimum of 5 sponsor/advertiser meetings per week
• Close deals and consistently meet assigned monthly revenue targets
• Maintain an active, well-managed pipeline sufficient to support both goals above

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prospect, identify, and reach out to aligned brands across culture, food, music, hospitality, wellness, and business in Austin and beyond
• Pitch Purple Jam's full advertising and sponsorship inventory, including show sponsorships, event sponsorships, web placements, and magazine sponsorships using the approved rate card and sponsor prospectus.
• Close new sponsor agreements and consistently meet assigned monthly revenue targets.
• Collect signed contracts and coordinate onboarding, creative asset collection, and placement delivery with the Purple Jam team.
• Maintain a clean, up-to-date pipeline and provide regular reporting to the Community Partnerships Manager on outreach activity, meetings held, pipeline status, and closed revenue.
• Represent Purple Jam authentically at events and within the Austin creative and business community.
• Adhere to approved rate card pricing and escalate any discount requests to the Community Partnerships Manager for approval.
• Collaborate with the content and media team to ensure sponsor deliverables are fulfilled accurately and on schedule
• Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or comparable professional experience required.
• Two or more years of experience in sales, media, sponsorships, advertising, events, or business development.
• Proven track record of closing deals and meeting revenue targets in a fast-paced, independent sales role

Skills and Competencies

• Demonstrated ability to prospect, pitch, and close deals independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, confident, peer-level, and relationship-driven.
• Ability to consistently set up meetings and manage a high-volume outreach cadence week over week.
• Proven ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities simultaneously without dropping the ball.
• Comfortable working in a commission-only structure with clear weekly and monthly expectations.
• Genuine understanding of media, sponsorships, and live events as advertising channels
• Demonstrated discretion and sound judgment when representing the Purple Jam brand in external conversations.
• A warm network in Austin's creative, cultural, hospitality, or business community is a significant asset.
• Continuous learner who adapts quickly and thrives in a growing, fast-moving organization.

Work Environment

This is a hybrid, flexible contractor role based in Austin, TX. Some in-person presence at Purple Jam events is expected and encouraged. The role is output-based, not hours-based. You are accountable for meetings held, deals closed, and revenue targets met.
