Build the Midwest franchise for a new institutional credit platform.

A leading financial markets business is building out a new institutional credit trading and data platform designed to address one of the most difficult areas of modern bond trading: finding and executing liquidity in large, complex and information-sensitive transactions.

The platform combines institutional electronic trading infrastructure with extensive dealer liquidity and market data, creating a differentiated approach to how buy-side and sell-side firms discover, interact with and execute credit liquidity.

The US business is already established, with an experienced team operating from New York. The next phase is focused on expanding market coverage across the US Midwest, with Chicago the preferred location.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of a market rather than inherit an established territory.

The Role

You will be responsible for developing the platform's institutional presence across the Midwest, building relationships with sophisticated market participants and identifying where the proposition can solve genuine execution and liquidity challenges.

The role is highly client-facing, with a strong expectation that you will spend significant time meeting clients and developing relationships across the region.

Your responsibilities will include

• Building and developing institutional relationships across the Midwest.
• Targeting senior decision-makers across Credit, Fixed Income, Trading and Electronic Trading.
• Developing new business across both buy-side and sell-side institutions.
• Identifying opportunities where electronic execution, liquidity discovery and controlled trading workflows can improve client outcomes.
• Presenting a sophisticated trading proposition to senior institutional audiences.
• Developing new relationships while expanding existing client engagement.
• Working closely with Trading, Product, Technology and Client Services teams to convert commercial opportunities into live trading activity.
• Supporting client adoption and platform growth.
• Monitoring competitor activity, market structure and developments across electronic credit trading.
• Representing the business at client meetings, industry events and relevant market forums.
• Building a sustainable Midwest franchise rather than operating purely against short-term sales targets.

What We're Looking For

We are targeting professionals with approximately 8–10 years' experience within institutional financial markets.

The strongest backgrounds are likely to include

• Fixed Income or Credit
• Institutional Sales
• Electronic Trading
• Buy-Side or Sell-Side Credit
• Trading Platforms
• Financial Technology
• Market Infrastructure

You should understand how institutional credit markets operate and be comfortable discussing liquidity, execution, electronic trading workflows, dealer relationships and the challenges associated with larger or more complex transactions.

An established network across the Midwest institutional investment community, particularly Chicago, would be highly valuable.

You do not need to be a traditional technology salesperson. The key requirement is the ability to understand a sophisticated financial-market proposition, establish credibility with senior trading professionals and commercially develop a new market.

The Ideal Profile

You will be someone who

• Has a demonstrable track record of institutional sales or business development.
• Understands Credit / Fixed Income markets.
• Can engage credibly with Portfolio Managers, Traders, Heads of Trading and senior executives.
• Has experience selling a differentiated product, platform or market proposition.
• Can operate effectively in conversations involving both trading and technology.
• Has the commercial resilience to develop relationships where the market is not already established.
• Is comfortable operating autonomously and taking ownership of a territory.
• Is collaborative, low-ego and highly accountable.
• Learns quickly and can translate complex market problems into commercial opportunities.

Experience successfully selling a less-established product, platform or proposition is particularly relevant. The ability to learn and commercialise a differentiated proposition is more important than simply having a prestigious employer on your CV.
