Singapore Resume Formatting Rules
What Singapore recruiters actually expect — different from global defaults in several key ways.
Photo policy
Required — include a professional headshot in the top-right corner of your resume. Use plain background, business attire, recent photo.
Paper size & length
A4 format (210×297mm) · 2 pages is the Singapore norm. 1 page for students/freshers. Senior professionals may run 3 pages but should ruthlessly edit.
Personal details
Include NRIC/FIN number type (SC/PR/EP/DP/WP) and work pass status. This is required by many Singapore employers for COMPASS scoring and MOM compliance. Omit it only if applying to MNCs known to screen blindly.
ATS systems used by Singapore employers
MyCareersFuture (MCF) — the MOM-linked portal — is mandatory for Fair Consideration Framework (FCF)-governed roles. Employers must post there for 14 days before hiring a foreigner. If you are SC/PR, applying via MCF gives you FCF visibility. EP holders should ensure their profile is updated as MOM checks FCF compliance.

Build My Resume FreeSingapore Resume FAQs
- Should I include a photo on my Singapore resume?
- Yes — a professional photo is standard in Singapore and expected by most employers. Top-right corner, business attire, plain background. MNCs from the US/UK occasionally request no-photo applications to screen blind — follow the specific job instructions if they differ.
- Should I include my work pass status on my Singapore resume?
- Yes — include your current pass type (SC/PR/EP/S Pass/DP with LOC) in the contact/personal details section. This helps recruiters assess your eligibility and avoid wasting both parties' time. It also feeds the FCF tracking for compliant employers.
- What do Singapore tech companies look for in resumes?
- Sea, Grab, and Shopee hiring managers look for product impact metrics ("Reduced checkout drop-off by 18%"), technology stack specificity (Go, Rust, Kafka, Kubernetes), and evidence of scale ("System handles 2M daily active users"). GitHub/portfolio links are expected for engineering roles.
- How long should a Singapore resume be?
- Two pages is the standard. Trim roles older than 10 years to 1-2 bullet points or omit entirely. Singapore hiring is fast-paced — recruiters at DBS, Grab, and Google APAC screen resumes in under 60 seconds. Clarity beats comprehensiveness.
- Do I need to include NRIC on my Singapore resume?
- Do not include your full NRIC number — only your pass type (SC/PR/EP). Full NRIC disclosure is not expected at resume stage and sharing it before an offer is a data protection concern under PDPA. Pass type and current validity period are sufficient.
