To support this, we are looking for Finance Specialists to join our Finance team across a range of areas. These opportunities may be based at our Auckland Airport Campus or City Hub and may involve supporting and partnering with a specific portfolio area, working within cross-functional teams, or contributing to our external reporting team.
This is a broad finance opportunity for people who enjoy working with data, financial information, stakeholders and business performance. Depending on final team placement, the role may involve forecasting, management reporting, variance analysis, business partnering, statutory reporting, balance sheet control, audit support, fixed asset accounting, or process improvement.
We are looking for strong finance talent who can contribute across a range of portfolios and teams. You will bring curiosity, commercial judgement and strong analytical capability, and we will work through the best fit based on your experience, strengths and the needs of the business.
The role you will play As a Finance Specialist you will provide timely, accurate and meaningful financial analysis and reporting to support decision making across Air New Zealand.
You may work closely with finance business partners, operational leaders, project managers and other key stakeholders. Your work will help ensure leaders have the financial insight, reporting and support they need to manage performance, improve processes and make informed decisions.
Depending on your team placement, your responsibilities may include: Developing and maintaining financial models, reporting and analysis to support decision making. Preparing and analysing month-end results, forecasts and budgets. Providing variance analysis and insights to help stakeholders understand performance. Extracting and presenting financial information in a clear and practical way.
Supporting finance business partners and portfolio teams with reporting and forecasting. Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders. Identifying opportunities to improve reporting, processes and controls. Supporting balance sheet control and reconciliations. Contributing to statutory reporting and audit support. Supporting investment activities, including capital expenditure monitoring and reporting.
Collaborating with project managers and stakeholdersSupporting wider Finance team priorities and working across teams. What We’re Looking ForWe are looking for people who can combine technical finance capability with strong communication, curiosity and a continuous improvement mindset.
Ideally, you will bring: Around three to five years’ experience in a finance, accounting, commercial or analytical role. Strong reporting and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret trends, explain variances and turn financial information into useful insight.
Advanced spreadsheet capability, including strong Excel skills and the ability to build, maintain and clearly document robust models, reports and analysis. A keen interest in technology, data and emerging tools, with curiosity and motivation to explore, adopt and embed new ways of working, including AI-enabled solutions, into your day-to-day role.
Experience using, or a willingness to learn, a range of data and analytics tools (such as Power BI, Power Pivot and other platforms), as well as an openness to leveraging new technologies and AI to enhance reporting and insight. Good communication skills, with the ability to build credibility and work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
Strong attention to detail, sound judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities. A proactive mindset, with the confidence to challenge existing processes and suggest improvements. A relevant tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, commerce or a related discipline.
CA qualification, or progress towards CA, would be beneficial, particularly for roles with a stronger accounting, reporting or controls focus. If you bring strong finance fundamentals, transferable skills and the drive to grow, we would be keen to hear from you.
