Role Description The Senior Accountant role is a full-time, on-site position based in South Africa This role is responsible for managing end-to-end accounting processes, including general ledger maintenance, preparation of financial statements, reconciliations, and month-end and year-end close activities.

The Senior Accountant will handle VAT, tax computations, and compliance, while ensuring consistent application of accounting policies across multiple practices. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing work prepared by junior team members, performing quality assurance checks, and supporting the standardisation of scopes, checklists, and workflows.

The role also involves working closely with practice leadership to improve reporting, implement accounting-related aspects of the tech stack, and provide insights on capacity, WIP, and financial performance.

Qualifications

• Strong technical accounting skills, including general ledger management, financial statement preparation, and VAT/tax compliance.
• Experience with month-end and year-end close processes, reconciliations, and audit support.
• Proficiency in accounting software and cloud-based finance tools; ability to help optimize and properly use a modern tech stack.
• Background in practice-based or professional services accounting, ideally within small to mid-sized accountancy firms.
• Ability to design and follow standardized processes, scopes, checklists, and QA procedures to ensure consistent quality.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and capability to interpret financial data to support business decisions.
• Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with founders, colleagues, and clients.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and review the work of junior team members, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
• Relevant professional qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience in a senior accounting role.
• Comfort working on-site in the Manchester Area and engaging directly with multiple practices in a growing organization.
