Key Responsibilities * Plan and deliver engaging Social Studies lessons aligned with British Curriculum requirements and school learning objectives.* Teach historical, geographical, cultural, civic, and social concepts through age-appropriate and relevant learning activities.* Encourage students to analyse evidence, compare perspectives, conduct research, and communicate informed conclusions.* Integrate UAE heritage, national identity, regional values, and global awareness into suitable areas of the curriculum.* Adapt lesson content, resources, questioning, and support for students with different abilities and language levels.* Create an inclusive classroom environment that promotes curiosity, respectful discussion, collaboration, and independent thinking.* Organise learning resources, displays, maps, timelines, source materials, and digital content to support student engagement.* Motivate learners through imaginative teaching, real-world examples, project work, and inquiry-based activities.* Take responsibility for the academic progress and development of assigned classes.* Observe, assess, and record student achievement in accordance with school assessment procedures.* Use Target Tracker and assessment evidence to identify learning gaps, refine planning, and deliver focused intervention.* Provide timely feedback that helps students understand their performance and improve their work.* Reflect on lesson effectiveness, classroom provision, and student outcomes to strengthen future teaching.* Communicate clearly with parents and carers regarding student achievement, progress, behaviour, and wellbeing.* Provide progress updates during Parent Teacher Conferences and other scheduled meetings.* Apply the school's behaviour policy consistently while maintaining positive and respectful relationships with learners.* Establish high expectations for conduct, participation, effort, self-control, and independent learning.* Exercise appropriate authority and respond decisively to behaviour concerns within school procedures.* Demonstrate the professional attitudes, values, and conduct expected throughout the school community.* Collaborate with fellow teachers on curriculum planning, assessment, moderation, resources, and special events.* Work cooperatively with curriculum support staff to meet individual learning and development needs.* Liaise with speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, educational psychologists, and other specialists when required.* Embed Mamoura British Academy Learner, Teacher, and Values DNA throughout teaching and classroom routines.* Participate in curriculum action groups supporting planning, assessment, resource development, and subject initiatives.* Record and communicate safeguarding or wellbeing concerns through CPOMS and other approved school systems.* Lead one weekly extracurricular activity during each school term.* Support educational visits, cultural events, assemblies, exhibitions, and activities that may occasionally occur during evenings or weekends.* Contribute positively to the wider life, ethos, and continuous improvement of the academy.* Follow all safeguarding, child-protection, health and safety, and professional conduct requirements.
Ideal Profile * Bachelor's degree in Social Studies, History, Geography, Humanities, Education, or a closely related subject.* PGCE or another recognised professional teaching qualification.* Minimum 1-2 years of relevant classroom teaching experience.* Previous experience teaching students for whom English is not their first language.* Strong knowledge of Social Studies teaching, curriculum planning, assessment, and inclusive instruction.* Ability to teach history, geography, citizenship, culture, and related humanities topics effectively.* Experience adapting lessons for learners with varied academic abilities and language needs.* Confidence using assessment data to guide planning, differentiation, and intervention.* Strong classroom organisation and behaviour-management capabilities.* Passion for teaching and commitment to supporting the academic and personal development of the whole child.* High professional standards and consistent attention to student wellbeing.* Recent and sustained participation in extracurricular activities or enrichment programmes.* Effective written and verbal communication with students, families, colleagues, and school leaders.* Respectful and inclusive approach toward all members of the school community regardless of position, gender, age, nationality, or background.* Positive, adaptable, and solution-focused attitude toward professional responsibilities.* Genuine understanding and appreciation of UAE culture, traditions, and regional values.* Clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check or satisfactory police clearance.* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
