Financial Analyst

A well-established international insurer is seeking a qualified Senior Insurance Accountant to join its Dublin finance team. Reporting to the Dublin-based Finance Manager and working in close partnership with the UK Finance Manager, this role plays a central part in the month-end and year-end close, statutory and regulatory reporting, and financial planning across the Irish and UK entities.

The successful candidate will take ownership of key deliverables within the international finance team, act as a point of technical support for more junior staff, and gain broad exposure to insurance regulatory reporting in a multi-jurisdictional environment. Roughly 30% of the role will be in a financial analysis capacity.

Responsibilities

• Month-End & Year-End Close: Own and deliver key elements of the monthly and annual close, including preparation and review of journal entries, ensuring accurate and timely application of accounting standards (IFRS, including IFRS 17).
• Reconciliations & Controls: Prepare and review balance sheet, intercompany, and bank reconciliations; investigate and resolve discrepancies; and ensure adherence to internal control processes that safeguard data integrity and company assets.
• Planning & Analysis: Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities, developing insight to support commercial decision-making.
• Management Reporting: Prepare monthly management reporting packs and drive the continued enhancement and development of reporting material.
• Stakeholder Management: Support the finance team in responding to queries from External Audit, Internal Audit, tax authorities, and the regulator (Central Bank of Ireland).
• Business Partnering & Improvement: Collaborate across a geographically dispersed finance team, mentor junior colleagues, and champion continuous improvement in processes and controls.
• Ad Hoc Projects: Deliver ad hoc tasks and projects as requested by the Irish and UK Finance Managers.
• Skills & Experience
• You must be a part qualified accountant
• Experience within the insurance or wider financial services sector is essential
• Strong technical grounding in accounting principles and financial reporting standards, ideally gained within a multinational finance function.
• Excellent analytical skills and an inquisitive, solutions-focused approach to problem-solving.
• Proven ability to plan and prioritise workloads and meet deadlines, particularly through month-end and reporting cycles.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to engage stakeholders across multiple locations.
• Strong MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills; experience with Oracle general ledger and Smart
