Assistant People & Culture Manager

We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Assistant People & Culture Manager to join a dynamic Central People & Culture team within a prestigious hospitality company. About the Role

Reporting to the People & Culture Manager, you will play a key role in delivering a comprehensive HR service across multiple business locations. You will support the full employee lifecycle, providing expert guidance on employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, wellbeing, learning and development and employment legislation.

Working closely with managers and employees, you will help foster a positive workplace culture while ensuring compliance, consistency and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations

• Provide first-line HR advice and guidance to managers on policies, procedures and employment legislation.
• Support investigations, disciplinary, grievance, absence, flexible working, maternity and return-to-work processes.
• Attend employee relations meetings, take accurate notes and prepare professional correspondence and outcome documentation.
• Assist with the management of long-term absence cases and occupational health processes.

HR Operations & Administration

• Maintain employee records and HR systems, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.
• Support payroll administration and respond to employee benefit and pension queries.
• Prepare employment contracts, references, confirmation letters, and other HR documentation.
• Assist with process improvement initiatives and HR projects.

Learning & Development

• Deliver training workshops and webinars on key people management topics.
• Support employee induction programmes and ongoing development initiatives.
• Help build management capability by promoting best practice people management.

Recruitment & Onboarding

• Support recruitment activities when required, including screening applications, interviewing candidates and participating in recruitment events.
• Manage onboarding processes from offer acceptance through to successful integration into the business.
• Deliver a seamless and positive new starter experience.

Wellbeing & Engagement

• Coordinate wellbeing initiatives and employee health programmes.
• Support employee engagement activities, recognition programmes and company events.
• Champion a culture of inclusion, wellbeing and continuous improvement.

Strategic Support

• Contribute to policy reviews and HR process enhancements.
• Support wider People & Culture projects and organisational development initiatives.
• Keep abreast of employment law developments and HR best practice.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience in an HR Advisor, HR Officer, Assistant HR Manager, or similar People & Culture role.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
• Experience supporting employee relations cases from start to finish.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across UK.
• Confident communicator with strong relationship-building skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
• Experience delivering training or presentations would be advantageous.
• CIPD qualification (Level 3 or above) or working towards qualification is desirable.
