To ensure that we have the right structures in place to support the achievement of our goals we are currently recruiting for a new and exciting role of Business Analyst within our IT department.

The Business Analyst will work closely with legal teams, business services departments and senior stakeholders to identify business needs, analyse processes and deliver solutions that improve operational efficiency, enhance client service, ensure regulatory compliance and enable innovation.

This role is critical in supporting strategic initiatives, technology implementations, process improvement programmes and digital transformation projects across the firm ensuring that business strategy, legal service delivery and technology investments are aligned through a cohesive enterprise architecture framework.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent stakeholder management capabilities and experience working in a professional services or legal environment.

• Partner closely with senior stakeholders to translate business needs into practical technology solutions that align with the firm’s strategic objectives
• Engage with stakeholders across legal practice groups and business services functions to understand business challenges, objectives and requirements
• Produce clear and detailed business requirements documents (BRDs), functional specifications and business cases
• Process Improvement
• Analyse current business processes and identify opportunities for efficiency, automation and optimisation
• Lead process mapping and process redesign initiatives
• Recommend best practices and continuous improvement opportunities across legal and operational functions
• Support the development and implementation of standardised processes and procedures
• Project Delivery
• Lead initiatives to modernise legacy systems and adopt cloud-based and SaaS solutions
• Support the delivery of business and technology projects from initiation through to implementation
• Collaborate with the IT team, vendors and end-users to ensure solutions meet business needs
• Participate in system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT) and solution validation activities
• Assist with change management, communications and user adoption initiatives
• Identify opportunities for automation, AI and data analytics within legal processes
• Evaluate emerging technologies relevant to legal services and professional services firms
• Data Analysis & Reporting
• Analyse business, operational and financial data to identify trends and support decision-making
• Develop reports, dashboards and performance metrics for stakeholders
• Present findings and recommendations to senior management in a clear and concise manner
• Support data quality initiatives and reporting improvements
• Support initiatives around data analytics, reporting and business intelligence
• Stakeholder Management
• Build strong working relationships with legal teams, partners and business services departments.
• Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders throughout project lifecycles
• Manage stakeholder expectations and facilitate effective decision-making
• Communicate project progress, risks and recommendations to leadership teams
• Risk, Compliance & Governance
• Establish and enforce architecture governance processes
• Ensure solutions comply with legal industry regulations, firm policies and governance requirements
• Support risk assessments and impact analyses relating to business change initiatives
• Contribute to project governance and documentation standards
• Solution & Systems Architecture Oversight
• Provide oversight and design authority for major projects and programmes
• Review and approve solution architectures to ensure alignment with enterprise standards
• Guide integration across core systems (e.g. document management systems, practice management, billing, CRM)
• Key Skills & Experience7+ years' experience in a Business Analyst role
• Experience gathering and documenting business requirements and process analysis
• Familiarity with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid project methodologies
• Experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Power BI, Word, Visio, and PowerPointKnowledge of data analytics and reporting tools
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, particularly with senior leadership
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced professional services environment
• Desirable
• Knowledge of legal practice management systems, document management systems and legal technology platforms (iManage, Aderant) (Desirable)
• Business Analysis certification (IIBA, BCS, or equivalent)
