Position Title: Chief Accountant

Department: Finance & Accounts

Reporting To: Finance Manager / General Manager

Job Summary

The Chief Accountant is responsible for overseeing the overall accounting operations of the organization, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and effective financial control. The role includes managing daily accounting activities, supervising staff, and supporting strategic financial decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise all accounting operations including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and Payroll
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Ensure timely closing of accounts and reporting
• Monitor cash flow, budgets, and financial planning
• Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
• Ensure compliance with local laws, tax regulations, and company policies
• Handle VAT filings and other statutory requirements
• Coordinate with auditors and manage internal & external audits
• Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports
• Control and monitor expenses to ensure cost efficiency
• Implement and improve accounting systems and procedures
• Support management with financial analysis and decision-making
• Train, supervise, and evaluate accounting staff

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Professional certification (CA, ACCA, CPA) preferred
• Minimum [5–10] years of accounting experience, with at least [2–3] years in a supervisory role
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations
• Experience with accounting software (e.g., Tally, ERP systems)
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong leadership and team management abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
