The Clinic Coordinator is a key administrative position within the SMU Center for Counseling, a community-based training clinic that provides affordable counseling services through graduate students in the Master’s in Counseling program.
The role is essential to the efficient operation of the clinic, serving as the primary administrative support for daily clinic functions, client services, and the coordination of clinic operations involving practicum students, clinical supervisors, and faculty.
The Clinic Coordinator helps ensure a high-quality client experience while supporting the educational and clinical training mission of the Center.
Associate's degree is required, preferably in social sciences, humanities, business, and/or human resources. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
A minimum of two (2) years of customer service experience is required, preferably in office management and/or program operations. Experience working in medical or psychological office/clinic environments desired.
Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. The ability to de-escalate conflict is essential. Strong conflict resolutions skills and an ability to deescalate tense situations are essential.
Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work independently, take initiative and manage frequent interruptions in a fast-paced clinic. Must also be flexible and adapt quickly to changing priorities and needs. A strong customer service orientation is essential.
Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time management skills with an ability to handle multiple simultaneous projects. The ability to effectively delegate tasks to the front desk team as instructed by the Clinic Director.
Candidate must have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with and/or a strong knowledge of website development and maintenance preferred. Knowledge of PeopleSoft, preferred. A strong technical aptitude with the ability to learn new software quickly is essential.
Experience with purchasing (p-card) oversight budgeting and accounts payable functions desired.
