We are seeking a high-calibre Financial Controller to lead the finance function for Sompo Hong Kong general insurance business. This is a high-impact leadership role that partners closely with senior stakeholders to drive financial performance, support strategic business initiatives, and strengthen the organization's financial governance and control environment.

You will be expected to

• Lead the month-end close, financial reporting, and statutory filings processes, ensuring full compliance with Sompo group reporting requirements (IFRS-based), and Hong Kong regulatory requirements.
• Provide strategic financial leadership to support business growth while maintaining effective cost management and operational efficiency.
• Partner with cross-functional teams and regional stakeholders across multiple geographies, driving business initiatives and resolve complex issues.
• Lead finance transformation initiatives, including system implementations and integrations, process optimization, automation, and continuous improvement projects.
• Oversee core financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations. Ensure accuracy, efficiency, and effective financial service delivery.
• Maintain a robust financial control framework, ensuring strong governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
• Support the Investment Committee by providing financial analysis and recommendations. Oversee treasury activities and investment portfolio monitoring.
• Develop, coach, and mentor finance team members, fostering a high-performance culture and supporting the achievement of departmental and organizational objectives.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, regulators, tax advisors, investment managers, custodians, and banking partners.

The right fit person will have/be

• CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in insurance/reinsurance finance, audit, or related financial services field, including at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership position
• Strong knowledge of IFRS 17, IFRS 9, and HKRBC requirements
• Strong analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail and commitment to financial data integrity
• Proven leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to operate effectively within a multinational and matrixed organization
• Demonstrated ability to proactively identify issues, drive resolution, and lead change management initiatives
