Senior Director – Finance Business Partner, Technology (Insurance Group | Hong Kong)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Director – Finance Business Partner (Technology) to join a Finance leadership team within a leading insurance group.

This role acts as the primary strategic finance partner to the Technology / Digital / IT organisation, driving financial performance, investment prioritisation, cost optimisation, and value creation across technology programmes, platforms, and digital transformation initiatives.

The successful candidate will operate at a senior leadership level, influencing C-suite and Technology leadership decisions, shaping technology investment strategy, and ensuring robust financial governance across significant technology spend and multi-year transformation roadmaps.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the dedicated Finance Business Partner to Technology / CIO / CTO leadership and digital transformation programmes.
• Partner with Technology senior leaders to develop multi-year technology investment strategies, business cases, and prioritisation frameworks aligned with group strategy and risk appetite.
• Provide commercial insight and challenge on major technology initiatives, cloud migrations, platform modernisation, cyber/security investments, and digital product development.
• Own the end-to-end financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance management cycle for the Technology function.
• Drive cost transparency, unit cost analysis, and continuous cost optimisation across run-the-business and change-the-business technology spend.
• Establish and maintain robust financial controls, investment governance, and benefits realisation tracking for technology projects and programmes.
• Lead monthly/quarterly business reviews with Technology leadership, highlighting variances, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions.
• Lead the financial evaluation and commercial structuring of major technology investments, vendor contracts, and outsourcing arrangements.
• Partner with Procurement, Legal, and Technology on large-scale technology contracts, cloud commercial models, and managed service agreements.
• Track and report technology ROI, total cost of ownership, and value delivery against business outcomes.
• Act as a trusted advisor and challenge partner to Technology and Group Finance leadership.

Key Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive finance experience, with significant time spent in senior Finance Business Partnering or FP&A roles within insurance, financial services, or large complex organisations.
• Proven track record as a Finance Business Partner to Technology / Digital / IT functions, ideally within insurance or regulated financial services.
• Strong experience managing large technology cost bases, multi-year transformation programmes, and significant capital/operating technology investments.
• Demonstrated ability to influence senior Technology and C-suite stakeholders and operate effectively in matrix environments.
• Deep understanding of technology cost structures (run vs change, cloud economics, platform costs, vendor models).
• Strong commercial acumen with experience in business case development, investment appraisal, and benefits tracking.
• Excellent financial modelling, forecasting, and analytical skills.
• Familiarity with insurance industry dynamics, regulatory environment (HKIA / local requirements), and group reporting standards preferred.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; able to translate complex financial and technology issues into clear commercial insights.
• Qualified accountant (CPA, ACCA, CFA, or equivalent) strongly preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related discipline; MBA or advanced degree an advantage.
• Fluency in English essential.
