Interim Nonprofit Operations Director

Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for an Interim Nonprofit Operations Director on behalf of a respected and growing nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals and families achieve stability, housing security, and long-term self-sufficiency.

Through a comprehensive continuum of services, the organization works at the forefront of addressing some of the most pressing challenges facing communities today by providing critical support, advocacy, housing resources, and life-changing programs to vulnerable populations throughout the region.

This is a full-time interim opportunity based onsite in Los Angeles, California , with the potential to transition into a permanent leadership position. The organization is entering an exciting period of growth and operational transformation and is seeking a collaborative, mission-driven leader to strengthen internal operations, support program success, and help drive organizational effectiveness.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Interim Operations Director will oversee the organization's daily operations, partnering closely with executive leadership to ensure programs are delivered efficiently, effectively, and in alignment with the organization's mission.

This leader will support operational excellence across multiple departments while improving workflows, strengthening accountability, and ensuring compliance with organizational and funding requirements. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, collaborative leader who excels at balancing strategic priorities with day-to-day operational management.

They will mentor managers, foster cross-functional collaboration, and implement processes that enhance organizational performance, allowing programs and teams to better serve the community.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee day-to-day organizational operations to ensure efficient, compliant, and mission-focused service delivery across multiple programs Partner with program managers and department leaders to strengthen operational performance, staff accountability, and cross-functional collaboration Monitor program outcomes, operational metrics, and contractual requirements while implementing continuous improvement initiatives Ensure compliance with funding requirements, grants, contracts, audits, organizational policies, and regulatory standards Collaborate with executive leadership on operational planning, resource allocation, workforce effectiveness, and organizational priorities Develop and implement systems, workflows, and processes that improve efficiency, consistency, and long-term organizational sustainability

QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience leading operations within nonprofit, human services, social services, behavioral health, housing, healthcare, or other mission-driven organizations Strong knowledge of nonprofit operations, compliance, contract management, grants administration, reporting requirements, and organizational best practices Experience managing multiple programs, departments, or service lines while successfully balancing strategic initiatives with operational priorities Demonstrated ability to coach and develop managers while fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement Excellent organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This interim opportunity offers a compensation range of $70-$77/hour , along with health benefits and sick time during the assignment.
