Position Summary

The Family Law Paralegal provides comprehensive legal and administrative support to attorneys handling family law matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, adoption, guardianship, paternity, domestic violence, and post-judgment modifications.

This position requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, empathy when working with clients, and the ability to manage multiple cases in a fast-paced legal environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare, draft, and file legal documents including:
• Petitions
• Answers and Counter-Petitions
• Motions
• Orders
• Discovery requests and responses
• Financial affidavits
• Parenting plans
• Settlement agreements
• Final decrees
• Maintain attorney calendars and schedule hearings, mediations, depositions, and client meetings.
• Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and third parties.
• Conduct client intake interviews and gather necessary documentation.
• Organize and maintain electronic and physical case files.
• Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings, mediations, and trials.
• Draft correspondence and routine legal documents for attorney review.
• Review financial records, tax returns, bank statements, and other supporting documentation.
• Manage discovery, including organizing evidence and tracking deadlines.
• File documents electronically with state and local courts.
• Monitor case deadlines and ensure compliance with court rules and procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality of all client information.
• Assist with billing, time entry, and case management software as needed.
• Perform legal research and summarize findings for attorney review.

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree or Paralegal Certificate from an accredited program preferred.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of family law paralegal experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of family law procedures and court filing requirements.
• Experience with electronic filing systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Experience using legal case management software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines with minimal supervision.
• High level of professionalism and discretion.

Pay: From $80,000.00 per year
