Position Overview

We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Part-Time Bookkeeper to join our team three days per week in our San Diego office. This role is an integral part of our operations and finance function, responsible for managing accounts payable, day-to-day bookkeeping activities, processing payroll, and managing accounting intern(s), one of which reconciles accounts receivable.

The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced small business environment.

Type: Hourly, Part-Time, 3 Days Per Week

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable

• Process and review vendor invoices for accuracy and proper approval
• Manage payment scheduling and ensure timely disbursement to vendors
• Reconcile AP aging reports and resolve discrepancies with vendors
• Maintain organized records of all payables and supporting documentation

General Bookkeeping

• Record and categorize day-to-day financial transactions
• Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
• Assist with expense tracking, reporting, and budget monitoring
• Ensure timely processing of payroll
• Support month-end close processes and provide reports to leadership as needed
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in QuickBooks

Intern Management

• Supervise and provide day-to-day guidance to accounting intern(s) which handle Accounts Receivable
• Delegate appropriate tasks, review work for accuracy, and provide constructive feedback
• Support intern onboarding and training on internal processes and systems

Qualifications

• 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in a small business environment
• Proficiency in QuickBooks (Online or Desktop) required
• Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes, accounts receivable processes, and general bookkeeping principles
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff or interns a plus
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively across a part-time schedule
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
