Legal Secretary or Paralegal

We are looking for a detail oriented full-time legal secretary or paralegal with three+ years legal experience. Candidate must have strong computer skills, exceptional organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task, strong civil litigation knowledge, excellent calendaring, and attention to detail.

We are looking for someone with a great attitude, works well on a team, is proactive, is not afraid to learn new procedures and/or programs, and that likes being busy.

Skills Required

• Ability to handle a heavy workload including document production, formatting and editing
• Take ownership in management of electronic calendaring for attorneys' appearances and deadlines to ensure deadlines are met and attorneys are able to be as productive as possible. This includes manually calculating dates and knowing how to determine what they are
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Multi-task in a fast-paced environment without compromising quality
• Immediate working knowledge of computer programs: Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe and internet, with ability to follow firm's style and procedures
• Knowledge of California Courts and Federal rules and/or ability to know where to look to find them
• Experience with e-filing in Superior and Federal Courts
• Flexibility and team member mentality to be able to cover for other secretaries as the need arises

Qualifications

• Three years or more experience in a law firm
• Experience using Microsoft products in a professional setting
• Civil litigation experience required
• California Courts preferred
• Appellate experience helpful, but not required
• Labor and Employment experience helpful, but not required
• Paralegal certificate helpful, but not required
