Entry Level Legal Assistant / Secretary

I am a solo lawyer with an office in downtown Minneapolis representing employees in workers' compensation cases. Responsibilities of the legal assistant position include preparing forms and letters using Microsoft; scheduling on Outlook; interacting electronically with court system; answering telephone calls; conducting discovery; meeting with clients and other tasks of a small law office.

The candidate must have strong reading, writing and verbal communication skills, and demonstrate the ability effectively and professionally to communicate within the office and with others including clients, court, and outside law offices. Candidate must have a good eye for detail and willingness to take responsibility for follow through with assignments.

Starting salary is $45,000 per year; eligibility for increase after 6 months of successful work. Work hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Thursday (32 hours per week). Parking is paid for by my office. The position does not offer health insurance benefits. I am willing to train an eager individual who has strong professional qualities, is eager to learn the work yet may not have worked in a law office.
