Business Intelligence Engineer, ATS

Amazon Transportation Services (ATS) is seeking an innovative, results-oriented, and strategic Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) who excels at diving deep into complex problems and developing AI-powered solutions that drive critical business decisions. In this role, you will design and build department-wide analytical solutions, leveraging AI technologies alongside traditional BI capabilities.

You will own the end-to-end development of AI-powered analytical solutions, data pipelines, self-service dashboards, and lightweight tools. The ideal candidate is skilled in database design, conducts advanced analytics using AI, SQL and Python, and thrives in ambiguous, fast-paced environments where defining the right questions is as important as finding the answers.

Key job responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data models and ETL pipelines to support business-critical reporting and analytics
• Develop self-service dashboards and visualization tools that enable stakeholders to make data-driven decisions independently
• Design and build AI-powered analytics applications that enable natural language querying of complex datasets
• Integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) with business intelligence platforms to create intelligent, conversational analytics experiences
• Leverage AI/ML technologies to automate analytical workflows and generate actionable insights at scale
• Partner with operations, engineering, and leadership teams to translate ambiguous business problems into well-defined analytical frameworks
• Write complex SQL queries and Python scripts to extract, transform, and analyze large-scale datasets
• Build replicable tools and methods that democratize data access across the organization
• Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure business health and identify improvement opportunities
• Communicate analysis results and techniques clearly and confidently to both technical and non-technical audiences through written documents and presentations
• Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, validation, and documentation

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
• 5+ years of using SQL, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load), or Oracle experience
• 3+ years of developing automated reporting experience
• Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
• Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
• Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift
• Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
