Family Law Legal Assistant or Paralegal

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Family Law Legal Assistant or Paralegal based in the Portland, Oregon, Metropolitan Area. The role involves supporting attorneys with client communication, scheduling, and case file management, as well as drafting, reviewing, and organizing legal documents and court filings.

Responsibilities include maintaining accurate records, preparing discovery materials, and coordinating with courts and opposing counsel to ensure deadlines are met. The position also involves handling administrative tasks, including managing attorney calendars [trials, hearings, mediations], providing billing support, and organizing case-related information to facilitate efficient case preparation and hearings.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Family Law and familiarity with family law procedures and terminology.
• Proficiency in Legal Document Preparation for civil litigation or family law, including drafting, formatting, and filing pleadings and related documents.
• Excellent Communication skills for interacting with clients, attorneys, courts, and other parties in a professional and respectful manner.
• Demonstrated ability in Administrative Legal Assistance, including calendar management, file organization, and workflow coordination.
• Experience working as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal in a law firm or legal environment.
• Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with standard office software and legal practice management tools.
• Paralegal certificate, relevant coursework, or equivalent experience in a legal support role preferred.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain client confidentiality.
