Pay Range

$40/hr. - $45/hr.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Hardware Technician IV to support prototype rework, repair, assembly, failure analysis, quality assurance, and electrical troubleshooting for small electronics and prototype devices.

Responsibilities

• Assess the condition of returned prototype units and confirm failure modes.
• Run prototype units through prescribed functional tests based on reported defects and perform failure analysis to determine root cause.
• Strategically disassemble units following SOPs and perform visual inspections of systems related to failure symptoms.
• Perform component and module exchanges to isolate failures.
• Document work performed on each unit in a thorough and consistent manner.
• Support prototype assembly, disassembly, and small pre-production units in varying quantities.
• Provide solutions to teams involving electrical, mechanical, and software troubleshooting and repair.
• Flash, program, and calibrate prototypes or testing equipment following outlined SOPs.
• Run software scripts and basic commands using the command line interface of Linux, macOS, and PC platforms. Script development is not expected.
• Use electronic analysis tools to perform systematic quality control of electronic assemblies.
• Perform light soldering to repair electrical components.
• Identify quality variations and anomalies and propose solutions and repairs.
• Follow and contribute to assembly and operating instructions (SOPs).
• Communicate effectively with Engineering teams through written documentation and live discussions.
• Use text, photos, and videos to clearly convey assembly processes to others.
• Propose and implement process improvements, including SOP improvements, to increase production efficiency.
• Seek feedback and continuously improve processes and execution.
• Use AI agents and internal tools to flash and program repairs.

Required Qualifications

• 6–8 years of experience as a Hardware Technician or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience repairing small electronics, taking apart electronic devices, and performing root cause analysis.
• Experience using AI agents and internal tools to flash and program repairs.
• Ability to adapt to a daily changing statement of work.
• Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks to complete assigned work.
• Experience reaching out to responsible Design Engineers for troubleshooting, clarification, and feedback.
• Willingness to propose and implement process improvements, including SOPs, to increase production efficiency.
• Proficient in using text, photos, and videos to clearly communicate assembly processes.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

• Electronic or consumer-electronic repair and debugging experience.
• Computer programming experience.
• Electrical troubleshooting experience.
• Previous prototype or assembly-line experience, particularly with small electronics or devices.
• Familiarity with OrCAD, Allegro, or other EE hardware design tools.
