Job Summary

We are a growing small business in the pet industry seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to help manage our financial records. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with small businesses, understands day-to-day bookkeeping, and appreciates a friendly, pet-loving environment.

You will play a key role in keeping our finances accurate and organized so we can focus on caring for pets, serving our customers and growing our business.

Responsibilities

• Record daily financial transactions accurately
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Reconcile bank and credit card statements
• Maintain the general ledger and financial records
• Prepare and send invoices; track and follow up on payments
• Assist with payroll processing (bi-monthly) and related reports
• Prepare monthly financial summaries and reports
• Track expenses related to pet supplies, services, and vendors
• Ensure records are accurate and up to date
• Work with our accountant during tax preparation or audits

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role
• Solid understanding of bookkeeping and basic accounting principles
• Experience using Quickbooks Online and Quickbooks Desktop
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to handle confidential information with integrity
• Experience with recording real estate and business acquisitions

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with a small business
• Familiarity with retail or service-based businesses (pet care experience a plus)
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Bookkeeping certification is a plus
• This role will start off in the 64154 or 64068 zip code but will require flexibility on job location mid-year.
