The Role

Contract Manager / Contract Specialist (FIDIC 2017 - Red Book) This is a senior, site-based expatriate role responsible for the administration and management of the main mine contract and associated contracts under the FIDIC 2017 Red Book.

The position provides commercial, contractual, and administrative support to the Project Manager, Senior Quantity Surveyor, Construction Manager, and Project Director, with a strong focus on claims management, reporting, and compliance in a complex project environment. The role operates on an 8 weeks on / 3 weeks off rotation between Ghana and Johannesburg.

Key Responsibilities

• Minimum 8+ years experience managing contracts on large construction or mining projects Manage and administer the main mine contract and related contracts in line with FIDIC 2017 Red Book requirements Ensure contractual compliance, including the timely issuance of notices, correspondence, and determinations Act as the primary contractual point of contact for the project team Administer contractual claims, including extensions of time, variations, and cost claims Maintain detailed registers for claims, variations, and contractual correspondence Support the Senior Quantity Surveyor with commercial evaluations and risk management Develop and manage monthly invoicing and payment support systems Prepare daily, weekly, and technical contractual reports for project leadership Attend daily site meetings, take formal minutes, and track actions to completion Maintain site diaries, document control systems, and contract registers

About You

Proven experience as a Contract Manager or Contract Specialist on large-scale construction or mining projects Strong, hands-on knowledge of FIDIC 2017 Red Book is essential Demonstrated experience managing claims, variations, and contractual correspondence Experience working in site-based or expatriate project environments Excellent contractual and commercial acumen Strong written and verbal communication skills Highly organised with strong attention to detail Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, remote project environment Strong stakeholder management skills across multidisciplinary teams Remuneration & Benefits USD 9,000 - 11,000 per month (or as agreed) Single accommodation provided Company vehicle or driver with vehicle Mobile business phone, SIM card, and workstation Expatriate rotation: 8 weeks on / 3 weeks off Four return air tickets per year (JHB / ACC) 100% reimbursement of direct business-related expenses
