We are looking for a skilled and organised Compliance & Onboarding Agent to join our team!
This is a great opportunity to help shape SnapScan’s compliance and customer onboarding journey. You’ll gain deep insights into the payments industry while expanding your expertise within a dynamic, Cape Town-based fintech leader.
Our ideal candidate is a dual-threat: a product cheerleader and a relentless problem-solver for our customer base. We take pride in delivering quick, efficient, and friendly service, and we expect you to do the same.
The details of the role are outlined below, but keep in mind that we operate in a fluid and fast-paced environment. If you’re looking for a role where you can adapt to changing challenges and seize new opportunities, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities will include
- Executing back-office processes relating to KYC, AML, CTF, and FICA requirements, specifically focusing on the registration of merchants and the manual verification of user accounts when automated DHA checks fail for withdrawals. This ensures conversion rates are maximised while adhering to legislation and minimising risk.
- Meaningfully contributing to the remediation of non-compliant merchants, with proactive and data-driven participation in getting customers over the line into a compliant/verified state.
- Ensuring that you have a broad understanding of both our merchant- and user-facing offerings, we'd like all team members to be product specialists, resolving queries independently as far as possible.
- Liaising with external sales teams (Standard Bank) to ensure the sales process generates minimal back-office noise.
- Liaising with the Compliance Manager and Product & Development Teams for any automation requirements to streamline back office processes.
- Providing feedback on customer pain points to the Product Team, engaging in the solution process and participating in the testing of iterations or features where necessary.
- Adapting the merchant and user onboard screening in terms of risk-based decisions, as well as adapting new and current requirements to both our current and future onboarding funnels, with guidance from the Compliance Lead.
- Ongoing Risk Management: Actively monitoring merchant behaviour for fraud or suspicious activity and handling the offboarding of non-compliant accounts when necessary.
- Workflow Agility: Managing high-volume, real-time compliance requests and notifications across various internal communication and ticketing platforms.
- Ethical Standards: Ensuring all onboarding and verification processes align with Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles and internal SLAs.

- Standard Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 17:30.
- Hybrid Work Model: You have the flexibility to choose between working remotely or from our Cape Town office. Please note that a minimum of two in-person days per month are required for critical meetings and team collaboration.
- Weekend Rotation: Approximately one weekend per month, managed on a rotational basis with the rest of the operations and support team.
- After-Hours Support: Participation in a weekday evening after-hours rotation (roughly every 8 weeks) to meet specific operational requirements.
