Job Title: Parish Finance Accountant

Location: AOD

Reports To: Parish Finance Manager

Position Type: Part-time (exempt/non-exempt)

Length of Assignment: 3 months

Expected Weekly Hours: 20 hours /week on average

Salary/Hourly Range: $30-$35/hour depending on experience

Position Overview

The Parish Finance Accountant will work directly on the parish assessment process and most importantly will aid the Parish Finance department continue to support the mission of the Archdiocese of Denver. The key outcomes will be to finalize the individual parish assessment billings for FY 2027, after calculating, reviewing, and receiving final approval from the parishes.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Parish Financial Statements 2026

o Ensure parish has properly closed FY 2026

o Pull the FY 2026 financial statements

o Collect, review, and confirm the FY 2026 financial statements and supporting schedules are ready to be used in the assessment calculation

• Parish assessments 2027

o Calculate the parish assessments individually, ensure all negative revenue is added back to the assessable income, ensure transfers and restricted gifts being released are recorded properly and treated appropriately in the assessment

o Finalize the assessment calculation and prepare for Parish Finance Manager review and approval

o Send any follow up questions and/or assessments to be reviewed and approved by the parish before finalizing their FY 2027 billings.

Requirements

Education and Experience

• 10+ years of successful experience as an accountant or financial analyst or similar role.

Competencies and Qualifications

• Be a fully initiated Catholic in the communion of the Catholic Church and intentionally living out the five precepts of the Church (CCC 2041-2043).
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
• Ability to work collaboratively with clergy, staff, volunteers, and parishioners
• Proficiency in job-related technology, systems, or tools
• Preferred knowledge, skills, or abilities, if applicable

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods

Compensation
