Staff Accountant @ Sports

Coda Search is partnering with an innovative sports media company that sits at the intersection of sports, entertainment, and digital content, with offices located in New York, NY. The team is seeking to hire a Staff Accountant who will be responsible for assisting with the month end close, full-cycle AP, and supporting the annual audit.

This role is ideal for someone with 2+ years of accounting experience who enjoys owning day-to-day accounting responsibilities while gaining exposure to the broader accounting function.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full-cycle accounts payable process, including invoice review, coding, approvals, payment processing, and expense tracking.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors while serving as the primary point of contact for invoice and payment inquiries.
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Assist with balance sheet reconciliations and analyze account activity to ensure accuracy.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
• Partner with departments across the business to ensure expenses are properly recorded and accrued.
• Assist with external audit requests and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably within media, entertainment, advertising, technology, or a fast-paced corporate environment.
• Experience managing the full accounts payable process.
• Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics is a plus.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
